Exam Pattern of NSO 2024-25
The NSO exam follows a structured pattern defined by the Science Olympiad Foundation.
-
Level 1 Exam Pattern:
- Conducted in schools during regular hours.
- Grades 1-4: 35 objective questions in 60 minutes.
- Grades 5-12: 50 objective questions in 60 minutes.
- Sections: Logical Reasoning, Science, and Achievers Section (Grades 1-10); Physics/Chemistry, Achievers Section, and Mathematics/Biology (Grades 11-12).
- English Papers: Tailored to CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and State Board syllabus.
-
Level 2 Exam Eligibility:
- Students in grades 3-12 can qualify for Level 2 if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Top 5% in Class: Achieve one of the top 5% scores in their class on the Level 1 exam. If there is a tie, section-wise weightage will be used to determine eligibility.
- Top Rankers: Be among the top 25 class or zone-wide rank holders.
Class Toppers with High Participation: If their class has at least 10 participants and they achieve a score of 50% or higher, class toppers may qualify for Level 2. Additionally, section-wise top rankers may also be eligible.
NSO 2024-25 Eligibility Criteria
- Level 1 Eligibility: For the Level 1 exam, students from Classes 1 to 12 can participate. There are no specific eligibility criteria beyond being enrolled in the respective class. Schools conduct the Level 1 exam, and students are selected based on their performance in this stage.
- Level 2 Eligibility: To advance to the Level 2 exam, which is more competitive, students must meet additional criteria. The primary requirement is that the class topper from Level 1 must compete against a minimum of 10 students from their class and achieve at least 50% of the qualifying marks. This ensures that only the most deserving and capable students progress to this more challenging stage.
