National Science Olympiad (NSO)

National Science Olympiad (NSO) Exam Dates 2024-25

The National Science Olympiad (NSO) is a much-anticipated event for students across India, providing them with a platform to showcase their scientific knowledge and skills. For the 2024-25 session, the exam dates have been carefully planned to accommodate students from different schools and regions.

  • NSO First Exam Date for Level 1: 18th October 2024

The first phase of the Level 1 exam is scheduled for 18th October 2024. This exam is open to students from Classes 1 to 12 and marks the beginning of their journey in the NSO. Schools can choose this date to conduct the exam for their students, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting and challenging experience.

  • NSO Second Exam Date for Level 1: 12th November 2024 and 3rd December 2024

The second phase of the Level 1 exam offers two additional dates: 12th November 2024 and 3rd December 2024. This phase provides flexibility for schools and students, ensuring that those who may have missed the first date still have an opportunity to participate. Schools can opt for either of these dates based on their convenience and academic calendar.

  • NSO Third Exam Date for Level 1: 3rd December 2024

The third phase of the Level 1 exam coincides with the second date in November, specifically on 3rd December 2024. This date marks the final opportunity for students to take the Level 1 exam and secure their place in the subsequent stages of the competition. It is crucial for schools to plan accordingly and ensure that all interested students have the chance to participate.

  • NSO Level 2 Examination Date

The Level 2 examination is the next stage in the NSO, where students who qualify from Level 1 compete at a more advanced level. The officials have indicated that the Level 2 exam will be held in January 2025, although the exact date will be announced later. This exam is open to students from Classes 3 to 12 who have performed exceptionally well in the Level 1 exam. The Level 2 exam is a significant step towards national recognition, and students should be prepared for a more challenging set of questions.

NSO 2024-25 Eligibility Criteria

  • Level 1 Eligibility: For the Level 1 exam, students from Classes 1 to 12 can participate. There are no specific eligibility criteria beyond being enrolled in the respective class. Schools conduct the Level 1 exam, and students are selected based on their performance in this stage.
  • Level 2 Eligibility: To advance to the Level 2 exam, which is more competitive, students must meet additional criteria. The primary requirement is that the class topper from Level 1 must compete against a minimum of 10 students from their class and achieve at least 50% of the qualifying marks. This ensures that only the most deserving and capable students progress to this more challenging stage.
